Long overdue...

I know it's almost April, but I'm a terrible blogger, and so here are a few cards and tags I made for Christmas...

Custom orders galore!

I'm sorry, I hate to break it to you, but you don't have the best neighbours ever. I do. Does your neighbour invite you over for wine and Glee? Does your neighbour make the best chocolate chip cookies ever and does she share them with you? My neighbour does.

My neighbour also supports my creative endeavours and placed a custom order for some of my cards. She's giving bundles of my cards as Christmas gifts! How cool is that? To see all of the cards, you'll have to visit my Facebook Page. But here's a sneak peak...

A new creation...

My friend ShelleyAnne and I decided it was time for pretty things. Lucky for us, it was all "Make and Take" at Scrapbookers' Paradise! We made this mini folding scrapbook type thing, similar to the mini scrapbook I featured in an earlier post (the ones that fit into a small jewelry box). So, feeling crafty, I came home and decided to make one for my little sister (her birthday is coming up). I made it to hold pictures on hand-made tags and a gift card, so it's scrapbook/gift card holder all in one!

Want one? Visit my Etsy shop and send me a convo. I'd be happy to customize one for you!

A lovely person named Lisa recently contacted me on Etsy to create some gift certificates for her store (which you should check out!). She was delightful to work with and gave me creative freedom with the gift certificates. Here they are...

The end is near...

The month of August, to me, has always raised the "half full or half empty?" debate. It means a month of summer holidays is behind us, and a month ahead of us. So do we have a whole month left? Or do we only have a month left?

Either way, I'm getting school dreams again. I've started dreaming that I'm back in the classroom and I go through a regular day at work. Normally, I hate these dreams. During the school year, having a school dream and then waking up and having to do it all over again is pretty depressing (and tiring!). Having school dreams during the summer is a bit better; at least I don't have to get up in the morning. I can laugh in the face of the dream as I roll over and let the early morning summer breeze drift in.

That being said, I have been thinking about school more and more. I'm teaching based on a theme this year. With my eights, we're going to look at the curriculum through the theme of Truth. With my sevens, we're doing the same, but with the theme of Value & Perspective. I've been trying to find some really awesome novels to do with both grade levels that have these themes. Even short stories. Any suggestions?

I guess I want to make some headway before we go back to work, but my brain just isn't out of summer mode yet. Maybe I'm a glass-half-full kind of gal.

A Trip to O-Town

I went back to my hometown of Ottawa at the beginning of the month to visit with my dad, my baby sister (who is not a baby, but in her 20s...I'm in denial), and my very best friend in the whole wide world. I had an absolutely wonderful time and I wish I could have stayed longer, but I was starting to miss my husband. Because my rambling on isn't nearly as fun as looking at a few photos, here's my trip in pictures!

Arcade Fire was playing at the Ottawa Bluesfest. It was a fantastic concert!

We also saw Metric at Bluesfest. It was in the middle of a heatwave, so I have all respect for anyone who gets up on stage to perform!

Jump for joy at the Parliament Buildings!

Sugar Mountain is my favourite place to go in Ottawa. They not only have every possible candy, candy bar, and Pez dispenser ever, but every Jelly Belly flavour known to man!

My little sister and I spent a day at the spaaaaaah!

Canada Day in Blackie

We went to Blackie, AB for Canada Day. This was the fourth time we've been to the Canada Day festivities, and they never disappoint.

John, former chuckwagon driver Doyle Mullaney, Jason, and Micah

Mom and I came in first place for the Horseshoe Throwing Competition. Whoop whoop!

Local kids in the Canada Day Parade

This is what the promise of candy will do to a child.
If you have a tractor, you can be in the Blackie Canada Day Parade!
